Adoption form

Thank you for applying to adopt a dog from Badass Brooklyn Animal Rescue. It usually takes 10-14 days to completely process an application, so please be patient with the process. We have received your application and are forwarding it on to our reference checking elves to start working on contacting your references. If you can notify your references that we will be getting in touch, that helps to speed the process. Assuming the reference checks come back positive, we will be scheduling a home visit where one of our volunteer home visitors will come to your home and meet with you for about an hour to interview you and answer questions you might have about adopting from Badass, dog ownership in general, and the particular challenges of having a dog in NYC. The home visitor is not necessarily familiar with the specific dogs in the rescue, so any questions you have on the particular dog you are applying for should be directed to the rescuer who is managing your application.

Please understand that we are an all-volunteer organization and we all have full time jobs in addition to running Badass. We do our best to respond to questions within 72 hours, but please be patient and don't worry if you don't hear back from us within a few days, we will get back to you as soon as we can. Please also let us know if you are applying to multiple rescues or if you decide to adopt from another organization while your application with us is in process. If you are not applying for a specific dog, please be as detailed as possible in terms of what you are looking for in a dog (age, gender, size, breed mix, and most importantly energy level). The more information you can give about your lifestyle and what you are looking for in a dog helps us make good suggestions. Please know that we get a tremendous amount of applications and often times we get multiple wonderful applications for the same dog. Over the years we have had to make some tough decisions and we always make the best match for the dog. Once approved, we work with adopters to find the right match and adopters who trust us and the process always end up happy with the dog they adopt (even if it isn't the first dog they noticed or applied for). Please let us know if you are not willing to consider other dogs if your first choice is adopted by another family.

Please keep an eye on our facebook page Badass Brooklyn Foster Dog as that page is updated daily and will have information on the next adoption events and new dogs rescued. It is a great idea to come to events and get a feel for different dogs before making a lifetime commitment. We treat our rescues as if they are our own dogs and take a great deal of care to ensure that they end up with just the right adopter for the rest of their lives.
