And a Baby Makes Four: Badass Roz’s New Role
Badass parents Tina and JD came to us after spotting a very sweet pittie on our website. The pit bull that immediately stole their hearts was Roz, a young pup that had come to Badass as a rescue when she was around 6 months old. The poor babe had been found tied up in Brooklyn, New York in extremely poor condition. With the combination of Roz’s sweet face and her tragic backstory of neglect, Tina knew that they had to meet her.
Despite being told that Roz had somewhat unpredictable behavior, the couple decided that Roz was the perfect Badass addition to their family. After taking her home, they realized that Roz would need a lot of patience and training to adjust. The young pup was fearful of most everything: new people, vacuums, blenders, a balloon that had gotten caught on her tail. Never giving up on her, they enrolled Roz in a six week training boot camp, after which they worked daily to maintain the structure that would help Roz cope in the world.
Little did they know, that their family would soon grow just a little bit bigger. Roz was undergoing training when Tina found out she was pregnant. As they began to prepare Roz and their home for a new baby, the couple expected that it would take time for Roz to feel comfortable around the baby. But it was what they didn’t expect that made Roz’s story really tug at your heartstrings.
What they didn’t expect was Roz’s immediate devotion to the infant, whom they named Dashiell. Roz follows Dash around for every task, keeping a watchful eye on him and becoming his trusty nap partner. Roz went from a frightened, sometimes out of control dog, to a resilient and loyal friend looking to nurture her beloved family.
The dog who was scared of everything still has some of the energy and quirks she came to Tina and JD with, but she’s grown light years away from her questionable beginnings. An immense amount of thanks goes to these two Badass adopters who went above and beyond for sweet Roz!
