Badass Brooklyn Animal Rescue is a 501(c)3 non-profit, all-breed dog rescue composed of a network of fosters and volunteers who work together to rescue sweet, loving, adoptable dogs from high kill, rural shelters in the southern U.S. states and get them adopted into wonderful forever homes.

On Saturday, March 19, BackFat Variety teams up with Badass Brooklyn Animal Rescue for a comedy marathon fundraiser at 61 Local in Cobble Hill. A $10 suggested donation will go directly to Badass Brooklyn.

On the evening’s comedy menu:

7 PM March Madness Joke Contest: 64 standup comedians deliver their best one-liners in this rapid-fire, bracket-style contest. Come watch, laugh, and vote on which comedian should be crowned Best Joke Writer in Brooklyn.

9:30 - Midnight: Characters, standup, music & more! The second half of the night features sets from some of the most accomplished comedians in Brooklyn. Featuring Giulia Rozzi (The Jim Gaffigan Show, Chelsea Lately, MTV, Moth GrandSlam Champ), Sam Evans (Just For Laughs Montreal), and improv singer Rebecca Vigil. More names to be announced!

Coordinators from Badass Brooklyn Animal Rescue will have a booth in the event space to collect donations.

61 Local is located at 61 Bergen Street, just off the G/F trains to Bergen, and the show is in the mezzanine. BackFat’s 75 Comedians for a Cause is hosted by standup Emily Winter (TV Land, Fusion), and musicians Larry Mancini and John Payne.
